Slocum was probably the most legendary sailor of all time. He disappeared in November 1909 while aboard his boat the Spray. In 1900 he wrote a book about his journey 'Sailing Alone Around the World' which became an international best seller. He was a Nova Scotian born, naturalised American seaman and adventurer, and writer. Joshua Slocum (1844 on or shortly after November 14, 1909), was the first man to sail single handedly around the world. Some edge wear to top and bottom of jacket and spine, corners slightly rubbed, remains of old sticky label to back jacket, not price clipped (no published price), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg++ copy.
